Diving Experience

• Gideon Liew has been actively involved in scuba diving since 1984, developing extensive experience across the diverse marine environments of Southeast Asia, from coral reefs to deep wrecks. His passion for diving led him to pursue a full-time career in the industry in 1994, working with dive centers, resort operations, island-based programs, and liveaboard vessels throughout the region.
• Over the course of his career, he has built broad experience as both a dive professional and educator, guiding and training divers in a wide range of environments and conditions. Motivated to expand beyond recreational diving limits, he pursued advanced technical and exploration training, with a particular interest in deep wreck diving in the South China Sea. Exposure to the Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) approach further broadened his international diving experience and professional development.
• Gideon has been teaching diving full-time since 1994 and has trained divers from beginner through advanced technical levels. Beginning his instructional career with Scuba Schools International (SSI), he later earned instructor certifications with multiple internationally recognized agencies, including PADI, TDI, DAN, and GUE. He is especially committed to advancing diver education standards and introducing divers to the team-oriented and foundational philosophy of GUE training.
• He remains actively involved in diving, exploration, and education, while maintaining a strong interest in marine conservation and environmental protection. Gideon currently travels internationally to conduct GUE training programs and support the continued development of divers worldwide.
