Research: deploying/maintaining sensors, video footage for photogrammetry of gorgonians and corals, seagrass survey, and mapping.

 Descripción: The exploration and surveying of Cala Luna cave continues to expand, but mapping this cave system poses significant challenges. While a major restriction hinders access to a substantial portion, the initial section that was previously mapped lacks a detailed profile view.

The objective is to integrate the missing elements of the first section of 2024 with the newly explored passages, using advanced tools like mNemo and SUEX Sinapsi. This endeavor involves navigating the complex cave system and devising protocols harmonizing various tools, formats, and technologies.
The task is twofold: to chart the unexplored sections, and complete the existing map with a comprehensive profile view. We aim to produce an accurate and detailed Cala Luna cartography, encompassing newly discovered and previously mapped regions.

 Descripción: GENERAL PLAN
We plan to perform a series of dives on the wrecks of German Navy ships sunk during World War II in the proximity of Gdańsk, Poland.

WHY?
We want to better understand and document the history of local shipwrecks.
The visual materials collected during the dives will contribute to the database of the website "Wraki Baltyku -Wrecks of the Baltic Sea"

HOW?
There are at least a dozen German Navy shipwrecks in the vicinity of the Bay of Gdańsk. We are planning to dive such positions as: T/S Franken, Minesweeper Munin, U-768, Boelcke and many others. Planned depth range: from 30m to 70m - depending on the team's composition and preferences. Depending on weather conditions we plan to spend up to 7 days on diving.

A first focus will be in the area where the two regions meet in the southern part of Sweden.

The activities are planned for five consecutive weeks and the goal the different weeks is similar; to retrieve and document as much ghost nets as possible taking weather, diving conditions and diver´s experience into consideration to be able to do this in a safe and efficient way. Please note, however, that the area is exposed and very sensitive to changing weather conditions.

The dates are as follows;
⁃    13-20 July - minimum requirement GUE Fundamentals Techpass
⁃    20-27 July - minimum requirement GUE Fundamentals Techpass
⁃    27 July to 3 August - minimum requirement GUE Tech 1 and DPV1

Bottom temperatures in the Baltic Sea remains low also in the summer at around 5 degrees Celsius, but temperature on decompression is normally 10-15 degrees.

Travel to the project location by flight, train, bus or your own means of transport. To facilitate dive planning and logistics, all activities run Saturday to Saturday. 

We rent two houses for the teams, but expect to share bedrooms.

We will have a compressor and other needed facilities available to cater for our own gasses.

 Descripción: Return to the Balkans

Over a few years time now, I have been diving in the Balkans. Together with our local partners, we plan to conduct some cave diving, exploration, mapping, documentation, and serious fun in Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 31 - September 11. We plan to explore some already dived caves and also venture into some new places.

Goals and objectives
The goal is to experience some spectacular diving in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the settings will be as spectacular as the diving itself. In addition to just cave diving, we will do some exploration, mapping, documentation, and have some serious fun in the Balkans. I will offer some suggestions for pre-reading for the trip.

Most caves in the Balkans start deep and continue deeper. This year they will be between 40 and 100 meters deep. Water temperature normally between 8 and 10 degrees.

On the cave side, I have the following in mind, but happy to discuss options and details:
* Last year we visited Buna, but did not get very far. This year I would like to continue exploration beyond what is on the map we saw. This would include a DPV and some significant deco as the depth is about 90 meters.
* Same thing with Bunica. Last year we stopped at 75 meters, but this year I would like to continue beyond that point.
* In Kajtazovina we got to the lake pretty quickly, but no one has been able to tell me what’s beyond the lake. I’d like to continue there.
* We were also told that there are two caves that have not been dived more than at the entrance; Estavella and Studencici. I have asked for more information about them, but I would be surprised if we can get anything without going there ourselves
* I would also like to return to Bastasica.

The ambition for the trip is to have two teams of three divers, to be able to do exploration and documentation in a safe and efficient manner. With six divers, we will need two to three cars. In addition to mine, we can rent cars locally or if someone else is ready to bring a suitable car.

There are two options for this trip;
- You can travel by your own car and bring all your gear and gasses, while accommodation, breakfast, air and nitrox fills, no helium, dive permits and any other local logistical support will be arranged on location.
- You can fly to the Split in Croatia and in addition to the above, the package will include transportation, tanks, DPV and Sofnolime.

Suitable level; C2/CCR2/CCR Cave/DPV Cave or equivalent.

 Descripción: The conservation organization Coral Soul is focusing on habitat restoration in the West Mediterranean sea. Due to regional upwelling conditions, the coral species Dendrophyllia ramea is forming dense gardens in depths that can be reached by technical divers. Usually found in depths greater than 200m off the coast of La Herradura, these beautiful orange corals can be found just below 30m of depth. However, this unique population of corals is threatened by fisheries, debris, and other human impacts.

The project is focusing on clean-up activities of coral habitats, recovering coral colonies, maintaining colonies in nurseries, and finally out-planting the recovered colonies into their natural habitat. This process is followed by extensive survey efforts to follow the fate of the coral colonies, and document the overall improvement of the ecosystem with the return of dense coral gardens.

Coral Soul needs motivated and skilled divers to support all aspects of the operations. Nurseries are placed at depths below 36m. Removal and survey activities can be performed as deep as 51m.
