Descripción: The Orange County Underwater Explorers (OCUE) are launching a Project Baseline effort beginning at Shaw’s Cove in Laguna Beach, California. This project will establish a one-year ecological baseline of local marine life and conditions, with the long-term goal of expanding to neighboring coves along the Laguna coast.
Divers will document broad flora and fauna using underwater photography, videography, and written observations. Supporting abiotic data—including visibility, temperature, and tide state—will be recorded during each dive.
A dedicated mapping team will use GPS buoys and acoustic pingers to chart key waypoints and create a diver-friendly navigation map of the site.
All data will be compiled in a central repository for long-term comparison.
Results will be shared through the GUE Project Portal, highlighted in Quest Magazine, and prepared for peer-reviewed publication. The dataset will also be structured to contribute to global repositories such as GBIF and OBIS.
This is a community science initiative designed to involve local divers, strengthen connections with conservation groups and universities, and provide actionable insights into the health of Laguna’s nearshore ecosystems.

GUE Instructor Christian Schweiger will host the GUE booth across both public days.

Whether you are new to diving, hold a certification from another agency, or are already a GUE diver planning your next course, come and ask. Christian teaches across southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria and is happy to talk through a training path that fits your goals.

Descripción: The wreck of SS Lina is one of the most impressive diving sites in the northern Adriatic. This more than a hundred years old steamer rests on a steep underwater slope near the Croatian coast, at a depth of about 28 to 55 meters. The aim of the project is to create a high-quality 3D model of the wreck using photogrammetry and to prepare comprehensive video documentation. By combining modern documentation technologies with technical diving, we want to preserve a digital record of the current state of the wreck, allowing both divers and those interested in marine history to explore it virtually. The project includes a series of documentary dives, during which thousands of photos will be collected and then used to reconstruct a three-dimensional model of the wreck. The end result will be a detailed visualization of the wreck of the SS Lina, which is a valuable source of information for the diving community, researchers and history enthusiasts.

From April 17 to April 24, 2027, our liveaboard trip will take us along the Northern Route—featuring various reefs and wrecks—as well as to the Brother Islands, where there is a chance to spot large marine life. The tour is suitable for both recreational and technical divers; everyone is welcome. As always, we are a diverse and—above all—relaxed group where everyone gets to enjoy the experience to the fullest. Whether diving with a single tank or a CCR, the focus is on our shared passion, not on breaking records.

- The Boat: As usual, we have an experienced liveaboard vessel equipped to meet our needs, including double tanks, stage cylinders, GUE-compliant gas mixes, and CCR support (also GUE-compliant). However, recreational divers are warmly welcome; we always have a diverse mix of divers on board.
- The Tour: North/Wrecks plus Brothers (starting and ending in Hurghada).
- Diving: 6 days of diving with 3 recreational dives per day, or 1–2 technical dives (depending on the depth of the technical dive).
- Guides: The tour will be led by GUE instructors Keith and Kaddi.
